    "To shoot a goal" seems to be alright, at least I've found it when I googled it. Would "to hit a goal" also be possible? The sport doesn't matter.

    Would "to hit a goal" also be possible? - Not in any sport I can think of at present, but it is used metaphorically in the sense of Ziele erreichen.

    I second amw; you can also "score" a goal.

    Edit: you could also hit the goal post, but that's not the same. :-)
