IAN an orthopod but, as usual, it depends on context – an "Impressionsfraktur" of the skull is a "depressed fracture", so the LEO entry is OK as far as it goes.
But here you are talking about the "Deckplatte" of T8 and T10, the bony portion of the superior endplate
, (facies intervertebralis superior or upper intervertebral surface of the vertebral body)
So, yes, you are right in thinking it is a "compression fracture
" – all Type A fractures of the spine are compression fractures – A1 are impaction fractures, and the one you want (A1.1) is endplate impaction on the AO classification
… mild superior endplate impaction fractures
of T1, T2, and T3 vertebral bodies (6).http://www.ajronline.org/doi/full/10.2214/ajr...
On other classifications, however, you could call it a compression fracture involving the superior endplate http://www.jaaos.org/content/10/5/364/F4.expansion
or simply a superior endplate compression fracture
But I do think you need the "superior" as it is "Deckplatte" and not "Grundplatte".
