水仙屬（學名：Narcissus）是多年生單子葉草本植物，天門冬目石蒜科。本屬植物原生地為中歐、地中海沿岸和北非，共有800多個原生種，其中10餘種觀賞價值極高，經常應用於園藝栽培。
中國廣泛栽培之水仙（中國水仙、漳州水仙）是多花水仙變種之一，學名為Narcissus tazetta var. chinensis，一般習稱其他園藝雜交培育品種為「洋水仙」。「中國水仙」自唐代引入，是中國十大名花之一，洋水仙則於19世紀末傳入中國。；水仙屬植物在歐洲的栽培歷史亦十分悠久，並以黃水仙（喇叭水仙）為主，1830年代始荷蘭、比利時、英國積極從事水仙園藝育種，目前已達26000種以上。

Die Narzissen (Narcissus) bilden eine Pflanzengattung in der Unterfamilie der Amaryllidoideae innerhalb der Familie der Amaryllisgewächse (Amaryllidaceae). Die Art Narcissus pseudonarcissus wird oft auch Osterglocke genannt. Der natürliche Verbreitungsschwerpunkt liegt in Südwesteuropa und Nordwestafrika. Nur wenige Arten kommen auch im Küstengebiet des östlichen Mittelmeers vor. Innerhalb der Gattung bzw. der Systematik der Narzissen unterscheidet man je nach Autor zwischen 52 und 85 Arten und Hybriden.
Eine Bedeutung in der mitteleuropäischen Gartenkunst haben Narzissen seit der etwa 1560 bis 1620, als sie gemeinsam mit Tulpen und Hyazinthen in die Gartenkultur gelangten. Heute gibt es mehr als 24.000 Kulturformen. Im Spätwinter und Frühjahr gehören Narzissen zu den wichtigsten Pflanzen des Blumenhandels.

Herbs perennial, bulbiferous. Bulbs with a membranous tunic. Leaves basal, linear or terete. Flowering stem solid. Inflorescence a several-flowered umbel or sometimes a solitary flower; involucres membranous, basally tubular. Flowers erect or pendulous. Perianth tube cylindric or funnelform, short; lobes 6, erect or recurved, subequal; corona narrowly tubular, corollalike or shallowly cupular. Stamens inserted in perianth tube; anther basifixed. Ovary with many ovules. Style filiform; stigma 3-lobed, small. Fruit a loculicidal capsule. Seeds subglobose.
About 60 species: mainly in C Europe and the Mediterranean region; one species in China.
Additional species of Narcissus e.g., N. jonquilla Linnaeus and N. pseudonarcissus Linnaeus, are cultivated as garden plants in China but are not described in this account.

水仙 （石蒜科水仙属植物）
水仙（Narcissus tazetta L. var. chinensis Roem.）：又名中国水仙，是多花水仙的一个变种。是石蒜科多年生草本植物。水仙的叶由鳞茎顶端绿白色筒状鞘中抽出花茎（俗称箭）再由叶片中抽出。一般每个鳞茎可抽花茎1-2枝，多者可达8-11枝，伞状花序。花瓣多为6片，花瓣末处呈鹅黄色。花蕊外面有一个如碗一般的保护罩。鳞茎卵状至广卵状球形，外被棕褐色皮膜。叶狭长带状，蒴果室背开裂。花期春季。
水仙性喜温暖、湿润、排水良好。在中国已有一千多年栽培历史，为传统观赏花卉，是中国十大名花之一，排行第十。
水仙鳞茎多液汁，有毒，含有石蒜碱、多花水仙碱等多种生物碱；外科用作镇痛剂；鳞茎捣烂敷治痈肿。牛羊误食鳞茎，立即出现痉挛、瞳孔放大、暴泻等。

Bulbs ovoid. Leaves broadly linear, flat, 20--40 × 0.8--1.5 cm, margin entire, apex obtuse. Flowering stems usually equaling leaves. Umbels 4--8-flowered; involucres membranous. Flowers fragrant; pedicels unequal, perianth tube glaucous, ca. 2 cm, slender, nearly 3-angled; lobes widely spreading, white, broadly elliptic to ovate, apex shortly acute; corona pale yellow, shallowly cupular, less than 1/2 as long as perianth, margin not undulate. Stamens ca. 4 mm, not exserted. Fl. Feb--Mar. 2 n = 30*.
