I'm not sure if it is possible to use the term "to gamble away" in connection with trust. Does anyone know?

    gambling with trust

Kann man verwenden, hört sich meiner Meinung nach aber zu umgangssprachlich an. Habe auch mal gegoogled und es wird tatsächlich sehr selten verwendet.

Würde schreiben: "We cannot afford putting our customer's trust at risk."

We cannot afford to risk losing the customer's trust. This sounds better to one native speaker than any of the other proposed translations. We also say for example "The country finally lost [all] trust in the President."

We could also say "The President squandered the trust he enjoyed when he was elected." This however is not riksing or gambling, but rather throwing away.
