as-is state / status für Ist-Zustand

und

to-be state / status für Soll-Zustand

Bin ich da auf dem falschen Dampfer und waren meine Englischen Kollegen bislang zu höflich, mich zu korrigieren?

as-is state/status for Ist-Zustand sounds fine to me.

I'm not so sure about the to-be state - is this extrapolated from something like:

es soll so getan werden= it is to be done as follows ?
if so, then it is indeed wrong

if you want to keep your as-is construction, then I suggest using a should-be as the second:

as-is state= Ist-Zustand
should-be state= Soll-Zustand

In the IT consulting context I work in, as-is and to-be state / situation / etc. are used all the time.
