Ich glaube, es ist für den englischsprachigen Leser nicht so wichtig, wie die Vorschrift tatsächlich im vollen Wortlaut heißt, sondern nur, dass es eine solche gibt und sie eingehalten werden muss. Oder?

Allerdings ist der Kunde auch sehr streng wo es um die korrekte Terminologie geht. Wie klingt:

"The operator’s obligation to provide appropriate protective equipment against the effects of coolants and refrigerants are stipulated in the applicable German safety regulations (Art, 23 UVV VBG 20/BGV D4)"?

Hmmm - wenn, dann is stipulated (obligation ist Singular).
Ich bin aber nicht sicher, ob eine Verpflichtung als solche "stipulated" sein kann.

Deine Übersetzung ist näher am deutschen Original, das stimmt - aber ist die eigentliche Aussage nicht einfach: "Der Betreiber ist laut Vorschrift..... verpflichtet, dasunddas zu tun"?
Dann ginge doch auch die freiere Übersetzungsvariante. Oder steht im Satz davor etwas in Richtung: "Der Betreiber ist verpflichtet, .... zu tun." und dein jetziger Satz soll wirklich erklären, warum er dazu verpflichtet ist ("diese Verpflichtung ergibt sich aus Vorschrift xyz"?

Allerdings, guter Einwand. das steht ganz am Anfang des Abschnitts, also klingt ja sowas wie:

The operator is obliged to provide appropriate protective equipment against the effects of coolants and refrigerants in accordance with the applicable German safety regulations (Art, 23 UVV VBG 20/BGV D4).

besser, oder?

Bzw.:


The operator is obliged to provide appropriate protective equipment to protect against the hazards posed by coolants and refrigerants in accordance with the applicable German safety regulations...

Aber dann doch lieber "required" statt "obliged".

"protective equipment to protect against" ist "doppelt gemoppelt", wie man so schön sagt."Hazards" gefällt mir gut.

Also dann:

.... is obliged to provide appropriate protective equipment against the hazards of.....

oder

...appropriate equipment to protect against the hazards...

Und nicht vergessen, die Kurzform der Vorschrift in Klammern beizufügen.

zu "required" oder "obliged" - required kommt mir schwächer vor, aber der Muttersprachler bist Du ;-)

Nimm' das, was stärker nach Verpflichtung klingt, die bei Nichteinhaltung schwere Konsequenzen hat.
