Disagree with Bill that "free" sounds too translated.
It depends on the context - is this required for running text or to be printed on a label?
If it's good enough for M&S, it's good enough for me:
"Marks & Spencer today, announces it is removing artificial colours and flavourings from 99% of all the foods on sale in M&S stores, by the end of 2007. And by June all the foods on sale in M&S stores will be 100% free from Aspartame."
"By September 95% of our foods will be free from artificial colourings and flavourings – this covers all our chilled foods, cakes and bakery."http://www.marksandspencer.com/gp/node/n/5625...
The other suggestions that have been made (without/countains no/ no added) are all valid, too.
