"ill" als Substantiv bedeutet auf jeden Fall "der Missstand". Es als "das Böse" zu übersetzen, ist meiner Meinung nach falsch.

mit ill = "Böses" ist nicht das eine, absolut Böse an sich gemeint, sondern viele verschiedene böse Dinge/Ereignisse/Konsequenzen, die auftreten können.

ill can mean evil, more or less synonymous, in what is definitely an old-fashioned usage, though:
"Ill deeds are doubled with an evil word." Shakespeare, The Comedy of Errors, Act III, Scene II, in which Luciana argues that the evil of a deed (in this case, infidelity) is enhanced when the doer brags about it to the victim.

Vielleicht die Domäne (lit.) ergänzen? Die Verwendung entspricht IMHO eher "etwas Böses" als "das Böse".

Lela, da hast du schon recht. Nur ist im Deutschen "DAS Böse" etwas anderes als "Böses"
