Boche has thus contributes significantly towards making it possible to use the existing mobile network frequencies everywhere with as few permanently installed transmitters and receivers – a task which not only a considerable scientific challenge but also has great economic potential.

It's really the whole sentence I'm not too confident about.

Would "wide area coverage" work, as in WAN?

Thanks. That sould have read "contributed" MOTHER :-)

I'd written "a task which was..." but then must have dekleted it while contemplating the correct tense due to the forward-looking nature of the economic potential.

I'm not sure mobile phone networks use the term "wide area coverage", as in WAN, isn't that specific to wireless computer networks?
