I am writing to inquire about available internship positions with X- or X-related duties at your company.
I am a German student of XX, majoring in X and X.
Having studied for nearly two years at the X University X, Germany, I would like to embark on a period of practical training in an international corporate environment. I am therefore seeking an internship of four to five months, beginning in May or June 2008.
During my studies I developed a strong interest in X and X.
Having grown up using three languages and being thus familiar with and interested in different cultures, I was particularly impressed by your company’s global orientation, wide range of clients and strong organizational culture.
English has been among my core subjects throughout high school. I have also attended a course in business English at X in September 2007 and am consequently confident that my language and communication skills stand me in good stead for an effective work contribution to your company.
My extra-curricular activities include active membership of X - the largest organisation for international students.
Being responsible for contacting local firms and establishing project partnerships, organizing volunteer members and participating in soft–skills training, I have good experience and knowledge of how to work in a team.
In January I was chosen by X company to participate in the annual case study competition organized by XX. My student group, which numbered 10 in all, was assigned a case study in the field of X, the discussion and conclusions of which had to be presented to company representatives.
My J-1 cultural exchange visa, which entitles me to work legally in the United States, will be provided by an authorized organization. Additionally I will have complementary health and accident insurance coverage.
Enclosed is a copy of my resume, which details my qualifications more fully.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
I look forward very much to hearing from you.
