- ein Allradfahrzeug ist ein Fahrzeug, bei dem alle Räder angetrieben sind
- ein Geländefahrzeug ist ein Fahrzeug, das geländetauglich ist (was mehr ist als nur schlechtwegefähig oder geländefähig); es kann durch Räder oder Ketten angetrieben werden; es kann wie ein Land Rover, ein Motorrad, ein leichter Panzer, ein Lastwagen oder ein Schwimmfahrzeug aussehen; ein Geländefahrzeug muss nicht zwingend einen Allradantrieb haben (drei Achsen, davon zwei angetriebene reicht auch)
- ein Geländewagen ist ein geländetauglicher PKW oder LKW

An ATV is a motorized vehicle with three or four broad, low pressure tires (less than 10 pounds per square inch) a seat designed to be straddled by the operator, handlebars for steering, and it is designed for off-road use. Most ATVs are designed for use by only one person. However, some companies have developed ATVs intended for use by the operator and one passenger. TheseATVs are referred to in this notice as tandem ATVs. The proposed rules the Commission is issuing cover three-wheeled ATVs, four-wheeled adult ATVs intended for single riders, four-wheeled adult tandem ATVs, and ATVs intended for children under 16 years of age (referred to here as youth ATVs).

Ich möchte auf jeden Fall dafür plädieren „All terrain vehicle – Allradfahrzeug“ zu streichen, denn ein Porsche Carrera 4S, der im „all terrain“ feststeckt :-)); insofern:
