Die über LEO erreichbaren Aussprachen für das Wort scheinen sich allesamt auf das moped = sauer zu beziehen. Vielleicht können die LEOs das mal bei Gelegenheit auseinanderdividieren.

Erm, maybe I'm being really thick, but "moped = sauer"? Can anyone explain that entry to me? I only know "moped" as in the motorised vehicle (two syllables) and "moped" as in the past tense of "to mope" (one syllable). "Sauer" meaning "annoyed" or "acidic"? Sources?

Maybe Shakespeare or something? It doesn't sound much like modern English to me, but I'd be willing to believe it was archaic.

I agree that the vehicle is (in AE at least) /'mo: pEd/, rhyming with, um, 'towhead.'

"Moped" with 1 syllable is the past of "to mope", as in "he moped around all day", but I've never heard it as an adjective, and it isn't listed as an adjective in my New Shorter OED. That only has "mopish".

My vote: delete moped -> sauer.
