Or does it mean this person took over the negotiations from somebody else?

DW, It could, but not necessarily - you could also say "Take on/Took on"

OT@Helmi - We have our "Young Challenge" horse show starting tomorrow until Sunday, and I just might have to act as their interpreter for the judges - makes me a bit nervous, as I'm much more familiar with the German terminology in this particular case - but the weather forecast is GREAT!

OT: Hi Carly. Great and good luck for the competition. I'm pretty sure you will handle it nicely. :-))

Thanks guys! Well, this is on a CV, but I can't tell whether the person in question took on the responsibility for the negotiations from the outset or took over from someone else. The German seems to me to be ambiguous on this point. What would you say?

DW, "Took over" would be just as ambigious :-)

Well DW, then keep it ambiguous, like I said in # 3. :-))
