Comment		Passt das wirklich zusammen? Von "mit Briefmarke(n) versehen" ist unter den englischen Quellen nur bei M-W die Rede, die anderen gehen ja wohl eher in Richtung "stempeln" (Briefmarke entwerten bzw. mit Freistempel oder anderem entsprechendem Aufdruck versehen).

Comment		Here's another dictionary entry confirming the match. @RE1: There is no doubt that the German "frankieren" includes what a "Frankiermaschine" does, right? I guess it is clear from the English dictionaries that "to frank" includes this meaning as well. This is a match. You are probably suggesting that unlike the German term the English one does not include putting a Briefmarke on an envelope? The M-W, AHD and Wikipedia definitions do include Briefmarken. Could it be an AE/BE issue? In any case, there is a match for what a 'franking machine' / 'postage meter' does.
