CZ, die von Dir angeführte Übersetzung ist schon richtig. Die Frage ist allerdings, ob sich "paragraph" mit "Paragraph" übersetzen lässt.

So weit ich weiß, treten in englischen Gesetze "Sections" an die Stelle der deutschen Paragraphen, deren Absätze man dann als "paragraphs" bezeichnet. But IANAL.

Or, for instance, "section" for "Paragraph" and "subsection" for "Absatz." At least in AE, I do not use "paragraph" for code text at all and know of no such usage.

@Uho, that's what I was told by my (BE) colleague as well - the German Paragraph would be section and the German Absatz would be paragraph or subsection.

und wie sagt man dann bitte paragraf 1 absatz 3 satz 5? ich meine das is doch hirnrissig, das heisst alles gleich!!!

Absatz (Abs.) paragraph (para.)
Satz (S.) sentence
Nr. x bis y Nos. x to y

Um die Verwirrung zu steigern: Absätze können - müssen nicht - numeriert sein, bei uns wird dann *Ziffer* x.y. verwendet, wenn diese dann aus mehreren (nicht numerierten) Absätzen bestehen, heißen diese *Unterabsatz*...

Unsere Mandanten haben sich also gewöhnt an
Art. 9 sec. 9.1 para. 3

I know it's late in the game, but the symbol "§" stands for "section" not paragraph (it looks a bit like an "S"). The symbol for paragraph looks like a backward P (I can't figure out how to paste it in this box, but they're both under special symbols in Word). Therefore, I would write Sec. 5, Para. 3. But IANAL.
