S. is very concerned about the fact that there is an increase of home-alone children. She finds out that her neighbour L. is leaving her son alone at home. HAVING READ / FOLLOWING a report in the newspaper about burglary and robbery S. gets worried about Marco left home alone. One day she sees L. going shopping with Marco, he is obviously ill, pale-faced and in a (DA FEHLT WAS) with a fEverish look.
When S. speaks to L. she behaves aloof and tries to ignore S. She accuseS her to be a busybody and a trouble maker. S. replies that she will call the police the next time when she sees L. leaving the house without Marco. From then on L. never left Marco alone again and now he is in nursery school.

Also: Dein "according to"-Satz bedeutet, so wie er da steht, daß in der Zeitung stand, daß sich S. Sorgen macht.
Erst ist die Rede vom Sohn, dann von Marco. Auch wenn klar ist, daß die beiden identisch sind, sollte das eindeutiger aus dem Text hervorgehen.
Aus dem letzten Satz des ersten Abschnitts würde ich zwei machen; der letzte Teil des Satzes ist nicht so ganz richtig.
"aloof" paßt nicht, außerdem muß da ein Adverb und nicht ein Adjektiv stehen.
She accused her _of being_...
In diesen beiden Sätzen geraten außerdem die Bezüge etwas durcheinander, man weiß auf Anhieb nicht genau, wer "she" ist.
Du solltest außerdem aufs Tempus achten, einmal passen die Wechsel nicht, zum anderen könnte man durch das Tempus die zeitliche Abfolge der Ereignisse abbilden.
