I just wanted to send a text saying that I am thinking of that person (the dot, dot, dot just strengthens the statement)

It's just a phrase that people write on greeting cards, usually to send to a person who is having a difficult time, but sometimes just to say hello and stay in touch. (I wouldn't say the ellipsis strengthens the wish myself, but that's a matter of taste.)

'Sympathy' sounds quite formal and usually implies a death, and 'Get well soon' can sound too casual when an illness is more serious.

What phrase do Germans usually use on a card or short note like that to express sympathy or friendship?
