insofar without a noun which is referred to?

I need to do a translation of quote for a paper I'm writing. I understand the quote perfectly but am not really sure whether the following translation is correct.
"Therefore you are the role model for Rokka. As you have noticed, I changed some events, set them in a different chronological order, have conferred some doings of one man upon an other and so on. But this is part of a novel's nature and [these changes] are only insofar realistic."
Can I use "insofar" withouth the "as..." or should I rather write : "These changes are therefore only insofar realistic as they are part of a novel's nature."
Thanks for your help, I'd really appreciate it.

"insofar" sounds odd for me here.

    Here's my suggestion:
Therefore, you are the role model for Rokka. As you have noticed, I changed some events, changed their chronological order, and I transferred some actions of one character onto another, etc. These changes are ony inasmuch realistic as they are a part of a novel's nature.

I'm not really sure you mean "insofar". I'm not sure. Just a suggestion. I think I'm missing something.

Ich verstehe deinen letzten Satz in beiden Versionen nicht perfectly. Wie lautet das Original?
