You need two or none. You cannot have just one.

Do you have full sentences? I'd say you'd probably need the commas for "however", but not necessarily for "therefore" (mind the spelling).
It has two be either two commas or none at all, though.

    OK here are two sentences:

He hates me! It would therefore be much nicer if he would leave forever or top himself.

Coke is much tastier than Pepsi. It is however not normally sold in East Sussex.

    Any comms needed??

    Thanks!!

In your sentences I would always use commas around "however". As for "therefore", you could do it either way. It then alters how you say the sentence. With commas, there would be a stress on "would", for example.

It's an odd kind of sentence, though, isn't it? Would people who say "He hates me!" really use words like "therefore"?

Das möchte ich mehr oder weniger gerne noch mal bumpen...

Verstehe ich nicht, Gibson. Was sollte man sagen?
"Due to this..." wirst du genauso merkwürdig finden.
    "Because of that..."
    "That's why..."
    "For that reason..."

Darf man "therefore" nur sagen, wenn man statt "hates" vorher "despises" oder so gesagt hat?
