    "towards a definition" -> what does it imply to you?

    Hi there, I'm currently writing my thesis and thinking about naming one of my headings "place branding - towards a definition". In this chapter, I'm explaining the terminology in the scientific field of place branding and what it generally is about --> I do come close to a definition, but an ACTUAL one is not provided.

    So my question is, if the heading is still suitable or if I should better change it? I was thinking about replacing the second part by "a discussion", but it's not really a discussion with pros and cons either.

    I appreciate any advice!

    I think your suggestion "towards ...," works fine. Or maybe "almost ..."?

    Geläufiger (und geschmeidiger) schiene mir die Umkehrung:

    Towards a definition of place branding

    (kein native speaker, aber wissenschaftlich bewandert).

    #3, eine häufige Struktur solcher wissenschaftlicher Titel, wäre dann gut, wenn vor 'approach' noch irgendein Adjektiv stünde.
    Und streng genommen ist doch 'approach' etwas mehr als der Versuch einer Definition?

    So finde ich #2 besser.
