"way to do" - "way of doing"

    Comment
What exactly is the difference between "way to do something" and "way of doing something"? Does anybody know? Thanks a bunch in advance.

You would say," I can't decide which way to do it". You would also say," That's one way of doing it".

The first of these is always used in this form. The second is usually as written, but would not sound entirely out of place as 'that's one way to do it'.

Why they sound right and wrong to me must just be the way I have got used to hearing them over the years. A reason or rule, though, escapes me.
