    marry payments

    Comment
do you know this expression, do you really use it in finance and accounting? or is it just a bad joke in this document:

"If you marry payments in the credit account and the married amount is less than the amount of the originating invoice the payment of the originating invoice is marked fully paid and a new open payment with the remaining amount is generated."

I don't believe that it's a common expression. Having said that, it's certainly not a joke either. "Marry" can mean "join together" in a general sense, and it's quite conceivable that the system designers could use it in the sense of "matching" entries in the system. There's no pun.

I second Steve, and I think it's probably used as a synonym for "reconcile"

I agree, but I think "match" is the right synonym. "Reconcile" means something slightly different - here, the amounts definitely do not reconcile.

    thanks,

In the same software environment, I also found the expression "pendientes de casar" (span. still to be married, noch zu verheiraten) for open accounts. Maybe one of our developers or translators loves that terms.
