    I digress

    Comment
    Ich verbleibe

    are these the same?

in definition they are actually opposite, but somehow it seems the are used in the same fashion when put at the end of a sentence or message

Did you consult the LEO dictionary before you posted your question?

yes I consulted Leo, and the two are not connected in LEo.. that is why I am utilizing the Sprachlabor.

    My examples are....

    blablablablablabalal blablalala, but I digress.

    blablablabalblabla,

    Ich Verbleibe

Please show us the link to the LEO translation where digress is translated as "verbleiben".

    Werner,

I never said the two were connected Laut Leo.

As a matter of fact, I stated that "the two are not connected in leo"

I hope not to have confused anyone with my statement.

Ich muß gestehe, daß ich leider gar keine Ahnung habe, was Du jetzt wissen willst. Hast Du "I digress, yours faithfully" irgendwo mal Briefabschluß gelesen bzw. willst wissen, ob das geht? Wenn ja, dann nein. Wenn nein, dann bitte Erklärung ;-)

    blablabla, but I digress :
blablabla, aber ich schweife ab. (can be used in the middle of a letter/speech/article)
    blablabla, ich verbleibe :
blablabla, I remain (e.g. your obedient servant) (at the end of a letter)

Not connected at all - so what's the problem ?

Maybe this will help. I do not see how 'I digress' and 'I remain' could be used in the same way.
