shed a few pounds in the UK?

    Comment
I am working on a text that includes a relaxed phrase about losing weight. After writing "shed a few pounds" I wondered: does this phrase work in the UK? In know the metric system is official there. Can one still shed a few pounds or, for the truly motivated, a stone or two?

Yes. As a matter of fact kilograms won't be understood by most people in this context.
