Comment | thank you for the question and the answers, I had problems with scenery/landscape aswell. one of the comments is very interesting, stating that you cannot enjoythe tree, only the view of the tree. this has something to do with the philosophical implications in language, I guess, with th question of how we conseive the world. so, I thought, that probably it would be too unclear to say "I enjoy the tree" because it would not be clear wich feature of the tree I enjoy, if it is, say, it´s shade or it´s aesthetic features that I can look at. when we say "I enjoy the sun" though, it seems clearer what we might mean (it´s warmth, it´s light). we do not have to specifiy. unless I am wrong and make a typical non-native speaker mistake. is it correct to say "I enjoy the sun"? |
