    Can somebody tell me if the following sentence is correct, please?

    I was an only child and the lack of companionship which this fact entailed upon me was augmented by the strange care excercised my aged guardian.

    It is a passage of my elaboration for school.

    Es könnte etwas einfacher sein, z.B.
