I have a completely irrational dislike for the word "moist", which always sends a shiver down my spine, for some strange reason.

BTW, the word "Besenkammer" is pretty ugly, too.

I like the words "undulate" and "inundate".
Also the word "obliteration" is pretty strong.

English words I don't like are "knowledge" or "acknowledge".

In German I like the words "bumsen" or "Furz". Always makes me laugh. Also anything that has "Panzer" in it.
The word "Vergnügen", though it means something positive, is pretty ugly.

I like "nevertheless".

deutsch, schön: begreifen - nur allzu war, denn was tut jeder von uns wenn er eine Sache noch nicht kennt? Genau: anfassen.

englisch, schön: blood. Ich mag das Gefühl beim Sprechen des Wortes. Es fühlt sich an als würde sich ein Tropfen auf den Lippen bilden um dann förlich abzutropfen.

Englisch, schön: "will-o'-the wisp"

Englisch, häßlich: "coarse"

Conf-Call:

God I don't know what's wrong with english native speakers, but the Americans and Britains i deal with want to hold conf-calls on EVERY damn thing and issue. gosh, it's a matter of time till we have conf-calls instead of 9o'clock breaks.

Es gibt viele schöne Worte in der deutschen Sprache (wie auch in anderen Sprachen). Um nur einige zu nennen, die ich als schön empfinde: Hauch, Quentchen, Sommerregen, rascheln, funkeln, Sahnehäubchen, Lebenslust...

Hässliche gibt es natürlich auch, Beispiel: bumsen (s.#8).

I like "flabberg(h?)astet" in English and hate "Mahlzeit" in German.

Oh, vergessen: ein sehr schönes deutsches Wort ist Quietscheentchen :o)

I like "Heimat", in German it has a very sentimental overtone and the meaning has no perfect parallel in English.

According to a survey the most beautiful German word is "Habseligkeiten" which apparently means "belongings".

English: "stuff" is nice - you can use it if you don't know the right translation and they won't even notice it ;-)

"mortgage" is bad - I can't hear it anymore.

tigger, da stimme ich dir zu. Diese wohl scherzhaft entstandene Verballhornung von "nichtsdestoweniger" und "trotzdem" hat sich inzwischen als eigenständiges Wort etabliert und wird überstrapaziert. Leider nicht zu Tode.
