    Krautschläger, or Krautschlegler?

    There is an agricultural machine called a flail chopper, or defoliator, that is used, for example, to remove leaves and stalks from beets/Ruben in preparation for the lifting/harvesting process.

    I have seen this machine called a KrautschlÄGER in a German brochure, but I suspect there may have been a typo, that it should really be called a KrautschlEGLER.

    Can anyone confirm this (or otherwise)?

    Thanks, but unfortunately that has just added to my confusion.

    1. Google gives 1,500 hits for ...schläger and only 7 (8?) for ...schlegler

    2. But your ...schlegler is from a learned source

    3. Some brochures I have seen talk of the KrautschlÄGER, but the KrautschlEGLERantrieb.

    Perhaps they are different things? Or perhaps the proper word is ...schlegler, but it is often mispelled? Any Landwirte out there?

    Ich glaube Krautschlegler ist der ursprüngliche, korrekte Fachbegriff (mir persönlich gefällt aber irgendwie Krautschläger besser, das klingt irgendwie brutaler)
    Krautschlegler und Krautschläger haben wahrscheinlich so ziemlich die gleiche Bedeutung, ich bin aber kein Fachmann und lese beide Begriffe zum ersten Mal.
