    Hope to hear you soon.

Can you say "Hope to hear you soon." when you want to express that you are looking forward to get an email from someone or can you only use the sentence when it's about an highly recommended phonecall?

Hear from you for a phone call too. (Hope to hear you soon is what I say to my friend the guitarist about his band.)
