    Sind beide Möglichkeiten idiomatisch?

Nur die Formulierung mit being erlaubt meinem (evtl. natürlich falschen) Sprachgefühl nach die Ergänzung "in most cases" nach "Y".

They're all ok but your last one sounds a bit clumsy.

Danke.

Daher müßte ich definitiv wissen, welche Variante (being/as being) die korrektere ist.

    Of course not.

However, it might reflect common use. So, I am wondering whether common use = correct use in this particular case.

Vielen Dank!

I don't think you're getting a lot of answers on this topic because your examples are too vague. You need to replace the "X" and "Y" with nouns and give real-life examples.

However, as a first vague impression, I too agree that the third option sounds rather OTT and clumsy.
