| Comment | Wat up opine! Seriously, I like your trivia threads. But "Does that list make sense in AE?" WTF? :-)
As you may guess I'm a young guy, so I can't really speak for like the 60s or 70s, but we do have popcorn. :) Popcorn machines at the movies have been there as long as the ash trays (which are mostly gone now). The only thing that's different is that we don't put a pound of butter in every cup. :)
When I was a kid we made popcorns in a pot with oil, and now there's microwave popcorn. I think I've seen that the first time about 10 years ago. I can't really tell how popular the stuff is, because I don't eat it, but I can tell you that you can get it anywhere. At gas stations, really anywhere.
In bars and pubs we don't really have. Well not at the bars I go, that's the ones where they serve real booze and not pink and green stuff. There are usually peanuts at bars, and sometimes funky peanuts, like chilli-coated ones. Or chips. And I'm glad they don't. I don't like popcorn smell, and now that we can't smoke anymore and the bars stink like sweat and toilet duck, they don't also have to stink like popcorn, I don't need that encore :) Sorry guys, I'm blowing off a little steam, I'm still having a hard time accepting this and was just yesterday to one of these waiting rooms they call bars.
(And yes opine, European retardation has it's bight sides: A year ago saw me smoking in very pub, every bar, five years ago in the office and on the train. :))
Well, that was my SE perspective, opine. :) |
