Hallo liebes Leo-Forum,

ich habe in einem Aufsatz "mostly" und "mainly" verwendet, wenn ich meistens oder hauptsächlich übersetzen wollte. Mein Englischdozent hat es mir jedoch als zu wenig formal markiert.
Ich wollte euch deshalb fragen, ob es ein formaleres Wort für "mostly" gibt? "Generally" hat ja eine etwas andere Bedeutung und "mainly" ist ja auch nicht formeller, oder? Würde "primarily" passen?
Zur Verdeutlichung mal meine beiden Sätze:
It is mostly hiding in the joints of your grandmother’s furniture, on gilded surfaces and even underneath famous paintings: Animal glue.
Animal glue was mainly used for joining wood but has many more applications such as sizing canvas, gilding of sculptures and easel paintings or as a binder for paint.
