    zu hohe Erwartungen haben

    Comment
Meine Frage bezieht sich generell auf die Struktur too+adjective+(plural) noun. Kann man das im Englischen irgendwie ausdrücken? Mit Substantiven im Singular wäre ja m.E. folgende Struktur korrekt: It's too serious a problem. But what about the plural? Can we say "These are too serious problems"? Klingt irgendwie falsch. Und darüber gestolpert bin ich bei o.g. Satz: Eltern haben zu hohe Erwartungen. "... too high expectations"?? Or would I have to rephrase, saying for example "The expectations of parents are too high."

I just want to know whether the two phrases in bold are common usage, or if you would definitely avoid them. Thank you.

There are some who will say "these are too-serious problems," but I'm not one of them. I'd rephrase: "these problems are too serious," e.g. Same for expectations: parents' expectations are too high.
