    Pillsbury Dough Boy dies

Hoffentlich ist es erlaubt, folgendes mit der LEO-Gemeinde zu teilen.

Friends, this is almost too sad to say, but I felt I should. Please join me in remembering a great icon of the entertainment community.

The Pillsbury Doughboy died yesterday in Minneapolis of a yeast infection and traumatic complications from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71.

Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack, the California Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies, and Captain
Crunch. The gravesite was piled high with flours. Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy and lovingly described Doughboy as a man who never knew how much he was kneaded.

Born and bread in Minnesota, Doughboy rose quickly in show business, but his later life was filled with turnovers. He was not regarded as a very smart cookie, wasting much of his dough on half-baked schemes. Despite being a little flaky at times, he still was a crusty old man and served as a positive roll model for millions.

Doughboy is survived by his wife, Play Dough, three children: John Dough, Jane Dough, and Dosey Dough, plus they had one in the oven. He is also survived by his elderly father, Pop Tart.

The funeral was held at 3:50 for about 20 min.

Indeed, we do have a memorial thread for this: Der Goße Scwarze Vogel.

(The title refers to an album by the Austrian singer/songwriter Ludwig Hirsch.)

Hi Res, right. But it could be a test for non-English speakers: how many puns can they find?

He had branched out into dog biscuits, using his finest collie flour. Critics said it was much a-dough about muffin. Lately he quit making donuts since he was tired of the hole thing. He was only a scone's throw from becoming the best thing since sliced bread. He left his wife with a loathe of bread. Now he's brown bread and has gone to meet his baker.

@6: Why? This is of currant interest since the Pillsbury Dough Boy played a large roll in many people's lives. We should be grateful to Bob C. for raisin the issue.

@Dragon: I only wanted a slice of the action! You one of them 'ecklers? Knead I tell you that it takes one Brownie points earner to dough one? Like hundreds and thousands you walk on thin icing! But I'll gateau-ver it.

That really takes the biscuit (or, as our American friends would say, it takes the cake)!

Und ich bin heilfroh, dass ich das nicht übersetzen muss! Geht eigentlich gar nicht, oder?!

By the whey, I suspect the bran-d new insight into this story means that other information shouldn´t be toast aside when one thinks of the sandwich is running through the hour-glass of life. The doughboy is scone but not forgotten. Or, as Milton once said, "Yeast rayed from the light when the Sunblest ye -, stood in the darkness, and saw only the bla ck rusty night! Rise again and find yourself, raising flower after flower from the baking ovens of hell!"

Ich muss mich zusammenreißen, dass ich auf der Arbeit beim Lesen des Textes nicht laut herauslache. Wirklich ulkig, made my day!

Hmm, I thought of writing a paragraph about the pudgy, middle-aged Michelin guy, but I'm afraid the humor might be a bit tired.

Maybe the Michelin Man should retire.
