Es gab eine ganze Reihe von Varianten:
    See ya later detonator
    In a while projectile

in a while crocodile is how I know it, not "after while". And wouldn't it be after a while anyway?

Bill Haley singt tatsächlich "after while",
auch wenn "after a while" richtig wäre.

Künstlerische Freiheit und passt vom Sprachrhythmus besser.

Ich kenne auch eine Fassung, die lautet:
    See you later alligator,
    that's the wild crocodile ...

Weiß aber nicht mehr, von wem die gesungen wurde.

    See You Later, Alligator

    See you later, alligator

    After awhile, crocodile

    Bye-bye, butterfly

    Give a hug, ladybug

    Toodle-ee-oo, kangaroo

    See you soon, raccoon

    Time to go, buffalo

    Can’t stay, blue jay

    Mañana, iguana

    The end, my friend!

all of these work but the most common goes.

    person A:See you later alligator.
    Person B:In a while Crocidile.

    See you later, alligator.

    In a while, crocodile.

If I don't see you round, I'll see you square.

    ...is how I know it.
