    Difference between fate and destiny!

    well, we had a discussion about this in class today, what the differnce between fate and destiny is, since there barely ever is a word with the EXACT same meaning.

    I suggested that fate was more like something that happens to you once, like a car accident where no one is actually responsable for and you would say that was fate. Deutsch: Schicksalsschlag.

    While destiny is concerning the entire life of a person. One's destiny, that can be the future or something you are meant to do in you life or meeting a person who changes you forever or falling in love with someone forever. Yeah bascially destiny is something linked to forever.

    so, now I was wondering if anyone could give any further advise on the question!

    fate happens no matter what you plan or do: you can be a top student, work hard and do everything writ, but if fate intervenes in the shape of a terrible accident (for instance), you may not achieve what you set out to do.

    On the other hand, destiny is based on predetermined factors, such as talent, discipline, etc. So if you have a great voice and work hard, you're destined to become a famous singer, for instance. Unless fate intervenes. :-)

    Why don't you guys check Merriam-Webster?

    fate implies an inevitable and usually an adverse outcome . destiny implies something foreordained and often suggests a great or noble course or end <the country's destiny to be a model of liberty to the world
