    Hi all,

    I'd like to say "with a variety of..." in German, and can't recall if that should be "mit einer Vielfalt AN" or "mit einer Vielfalt VON". I checked Google to see which would be the better choice, and the results are too close for me to call (9.640 for "...von", 9.690 for "...an"). Can anyone please help? Thanks!

    (For context, if it makes a difference, the sentence, in English, reads:
    With a variety of clients, including Fortune 500 companies, we are influencers in the industry. [[I didn't write this, by the way...]])

    I didn't mean to imply that I rely on Google for translation solutions, but sometimes it can help...
    That said, is there a rule here? Or a general consensus?

    Mein Bauch sagt mir "an", aber ich kann es nicht begründen; und mein Wahrig steht im Büro.

    Allerdings ist die lineare Übersetzung von "a variety of" aus dem Englischen selten wirklich idiomatisch gutes Deutsch.

    Wie wär's mit "mit einem breitgefächerten Kundenspektrum..."?

    Ich finde Chajas Vorschlag gut. Was treffenderes fällt mir nicht ein.
    Alternativ zu Kundenspektrum vielleicht:

    Kundenstamm
    Klientel
    Mandantschaft

    je nach Zusammenhang.

    Ich würde zu "an" tendieren, obwohl "von" auch nicht direkt falsch klingt.
    Schließe mich aber Chajas Vorschlag an, das hört sich gut an.

    My gut feeling was 'an' but got the following from dict.cc:

    a variety of - eine Vielfalt von

    a wide range of - eine große Vielfalt an

    variety of things - Vielfalt von Dingen
    BUT
    variety of events - Vielfalt an Ereignissen

    Can anyone explain the difference or type in their Duden entry??

    As far as your translation is concerned however, I'd use Chaja's suggestion.

    "An" klingt m. E. deutlich besser. "Von" ist eher ein wenig umgangsprachlich.

    I think the consensus is "an", from the responses here and from the other searching I've done, but I will take Chaja's suggestion and rewrite the sentence completely. Thanks, everyone, and have a great weekend!
