    das "die" ist wichtig.

    Sich Chancen ausrechnen == sich Hoffnungen machen auf einen positiven Verlauf ("was schleicht der nur dauernd um die Susi rum, der rechnet sich wohl Chancen bei ihr aus?")

    (sich) die Chancen ausrechnen == Überlegungen anstellen, mit welcher Wahrscheinlichkeit welches Ereignis eintreten könnte.
