Wäre das nicht "in der Achselhöhle"?

Man könnte natürlich auch sagen "in der Achselhöhle" steht die Bezeichnung X. Wie wäre dann die richtige Präposition?

You can use either "under the armpit" or "in the armpit"; I believe they are about equally common. If there is any distinction in meaning, to me it would be that "in the armpit" indicates further into the cavity while "under the armpit" is a little more localized. In a discussion of taking temperature, for example, either phrase could be used for the placement of the thermometer - and either placement would be a struggle with a small child.
