Wie drückt man das in Englisch aus?
Ich bilde mir ein, irgendwann einmal ein Idiom irgendwo gelesen zu haben ...

    Maybe????...

Ein Fahrzeug bringt mich von Punkt A auf Punkt B.

    d.h., ein Fortbewegungsmittel zum Weiterkommen.

Maybe my job or my career takes me from point A to Point B...

and if I want to keep / advance in my job, I have to put some extra effort into my work

    so ungefähr...

If you want to get ahead in your job / career, you'd better put some extra effort into working. (give an extra push)

Of course, I could be completely wrong here!

It's just a funny saying to automobilists and bikers when they have a flat tire or another problem with their vehicle and have to push it instead of drive or ride it.

Since it's just there for the rhyme it has probably no English counterpart and needs to be translated literally; but beware, it will lose its schadenfreude- meaning then.

Das wäre doch eher "Auto fängt mit Au an und hört mit O(h) auf", oder?

He who holds his bike dear will push it with no fear.

    (Old saying from my great-grandmother.)

Salt 'n' Pepa haben eigentlich alles zu dem Thema gesagt: "Push it, baby, push it!"
    Sarah Palin: "Push baby, push!"

"True love means pushing (it) the extra mile"
