sich die Tür in die Hand geben

    Subject

sich die Tür in die Hand geben

    Context/ examples
Used to mean that a large number of people, in this case people who are selling something, enter and leave the house. Used to give the impression of a great number of comings and goings, a busy household, where a lot of money is being spent.

Suggestionsich die Klinke in die Hand geben - to come and go in a continuous stream

Man gibt sich die Klinke (die Türklinke) in die Hand, nicht die Tür. Die Tür ist für die Hand zu groß! :-)
