In the US we say "physical education" (PE or Phys Ed) or just call it "gym," but does anyone know what it's called in British English? I'm proofreading a translation of an Abi Zeugnis and "Sport"(DE) is translated as "Sports"(BE). Maybe it's right, but I'm thinking it's not...

in BE it can be 'sports', 'PE' or 'physical education'.

    There is no major difference.

On a school certificate, "PE" would be the most likely, IMO.

On a school certificate I'd expect it to be spelled out as physical education, although it would normally be referred to as PE.

It'd be a bit odd not to see "PE", though. And I'd certainly expect Physical Education.

Hmm- we had PE on our time tables, but I'm fairly certain the GCSE certificate said Physical Education.
