eastworld, I can't think of the English term, but prior to the shift change, the head nurse on the early shift (for example) holds "die Übergabe" for the next shift. Nurses on both shifts have to attend - here s/he outlines the current cases, patients medication, allergies, etc.

Tried to edit :-) The "Übergabe" most often takes place in the nurse's station/office.

Indeed, it's the handover room. Although we don't really say this. We say 'come on, it's handover' or 'we're having handover now'.

I have experienced handover in: the nurses' office, the staff room, a disused bathroom, the nurses' station (different from office!), etc.... :-)

so there's no room reserved for "handover" in other words?
