In Deutschland haben die meisten Tarife für "smartphones" ein begrenztes Datenvolumen. Wenn man das aufgebraucht hat, bekommt nur noch eine so extrem langsame Verbindung, dass man sie eigentlich nicht mehr nutzen kann.

I still use a flip phone and am consequently ignorant in matters of iPhones etc. The only other thing I can imagine is that you've run out of minutes.

I think you have used up your data limit/cap. (no. of GB.. or something like that... keeping in mind that I am a flip-phone user)

We have this in Canada too.. I don't think it slows down your phone; here they just charge you extra on your monthly bill...

Steckt in "aufbrauchen" nicht die Bedeutung, etwas, z.B. Vorräte, zu verbrauchen, weil sie weg müssen, da sie schlecht werden oder Platz verbrauchen?

Bei einem Datenvolumen wäre diese Intention eher ungewöhnlich.

Klar, ein Limit kann man nicht verbrauchen, sondern nur erreichen...

Im Jargon der Techniker werden z. B. "quota expended/exhausted". Wie weit das in die Alltagssprache gewandert ist, hängt vielleicht davon ab, wer die entsprechenden Meldungen des Netzes/Providers bei Drosselung oder Dienstverweigerung formuliert.
