"variant lymphocytes" or "reactive lymphocytes" are terms now preferred for what used to be called "atypical lymphocytes" (non-malignant)

"Lymphocytes
Over the past century, reactive alterations in lymphocytes have been described by several confusing terms, including variant lymphocytes, reactive lymphocytes, effector lymphocytes and atypical lymphocytes. The last designation is the least suitable, because it implies that the lymphocytes are abnormal when, in fact, they are reacting to antigen in a very normal way. The terms variant and reactive are often used interchangeably."
