    It's whicker, I concur with #2 on the spelling, but it is nothing like whinnying. More of a low, contented, throaty whisper (often food-related), as opposed to the higher-pitched excited whinnying.
    No idea about the G term, though.
    The louder version of "whicker" is "nicker" which to my ears is what's on this youtube clip: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=is8EC4o-N8M

    Ich schließe mich #4 laalaa an.
    Jedoch kenne ich auch nicht die offizielle Übersetzung für whicker.

    Wir persönlich nennen es "brummeln", wenn unsere Pferde uns oder ihre Boxen-Nachbarn so begrüßen. Es ist ein tiefer, kehliger, vibrierender Ton.
    (Wenn es Futter gibt, wird aber bei unseren zwei Pferden nicht gebrummt, sondern sie gehen aufgeregt in der Box hin und her und scharren oder schlagen mit den Hufen).

By raising the note of the wicker, the horse can make the communication more emphatic. The welcoming call has several different tones, which vary the intensity of the greeting call.

    Consider looking up both "wicker" and "whicker" in a dictionary and then decide.

    Mit Pferden kenne ich mich nicht aus, aber nachdem man in englischen einsprachigen Wörterbüchern für die Schreibweise "wicker" nur die mir geläufige Definition findet, die "Korbgeflecht" bedeutet, während die Einträge bei "whicker" auf Pferdelaute schließen lassen, bin ich geneigt, laalaa zuzustimmen.
