    Some prople do that when they get ready to handle a maybe dangerous action of somebody they are looking in the eyes. Or just do it as a kind of warning like saying "Don't you dare".

    "His fists started twisting. My eyes became slots, fixiating him, showing that I'm ready to dodge and fight back."

    Der Rest vom Satz ist auch ein bisschen komisch -

    a) müsste es 'was ready to' heißen, um in der Zeit zu bleiben und

    b) ist 'ready to dodge' ja das Gegenteil von 'fight'. Das geht nicht zusammen, finde ich.

    Und 'fixate' ohne i.

    a) Right. What I wrote is only valid like this: "Meine Augen wurden Schlitze um zu zeigen >Ich bin bereit<" Ja, normalerweisen gehen die Augen eher zu, um das (unwichtige) Umfeld auszublenden um den Focus auf das gegenüber zu konzentrieren.</div>

    b) I think it's possible to dodge and fight back. "Ich war bereit auszuweichen und zurückzuschlagen." Je nachdem was gerade angebracht ist und sicher wird in diesem Kampf auch beides vorkommen.

    Fixate ... thanks! So it's different from the german language.

    His fists started twisting? How does that work? Were they dancing? ;-)

    Maybe you meant " twitching"? I'd probably say something like "I squinted my eyes, honing in on him, showing my readiness to fight (him).

    Right, I ment "twitching". I must have made this mistake all my life since it looks/sounds completely unfamiliar. ;)
