    Stummer Impuls - silent stimulus

    Subject

    Stummer Impuls - silent stimulus

    [educ.]

Hello, for a didactic seminar I was searching for an English translation of the method "stummer Impuls".
This describes the situation that a teacher starts the lesson quietly with e.g. a picture or an object and without asking any questions he/she waits for spontaneous statements from the pupils about the picture or the object.

I saw the entry on "silent stimulus" but since I couldn't find that expression anywhere else I thought that there must be something else.

Question: do you know if this pedagogic device is being applied in ENG speaking schools? Or are you simply looking to circumscribe the method so that ENG readers can follow?
