    Was ist Letscho? Klingt irgedwie wie der Famieleinname des Dalai Lama.

    Letscho ist ein in verschiedenen Ausführungen auftretendes osteuropäisches Gemüsegericht; nach Fall der Mauer sollen auch im Westen Deutschlands gelegentlich Konserven mit selbigem gesichtet worden sein *zwinker*.
    Besteht zum größten Teil aus Tomatenmatsch und zerkochten Paprika.

    is not translated.
    If anything, it is described: Letscho, ungarisch Lecsó, ist ein Gericht aus Paprika, Tomaten und Zwiebeln;

    Letscho ist ein Mischgemüse aus angebratenen Zwiebeln, Tomaten und Paprika. Man kann auch Zucchini hineintun.

    @Alan: But would the German spelling be used in English? Is a large English-speaking public familiar with this dish?

    No, English speakers hardly know Letscho unless they've gotten to this side of the Elb river.
    And, since it is so exotic for English speakers anyway, you can spell it any way you wish. Phonetically you could say in English: "Letcho" - or try the original Hungarian: "Lecsó"

    The US public is AFAIK not familiar with the dish. Which is probably the why the english-language recipes all seem to use the Hungarian spelling, frequently without the accent.

    Oops, the long search URL did not get accepted. Here's the Google search I used: Search term "lecso", show Results only in English.
