According to my dictionary this means to "lull or rock to sleep", however, I suspect that this is not the correct meaning for this word in the context of the above sentence. Could it perhaps mean "to weigh out into something"
    e.g.
    "0,344g N-(4-Bromo-5-iodo-2-thiazolyl)-2,2-dimethylpropanamid (0,88mmol, 1,00eq)was then weighed out into a three-necked flask and dissolved in 5ml dioxane."

N.B. If the "to lull or rock to sleep" is also a valid translation of this word (albeit in a different context) then that too ought to be added to LEO.

"einwiegen" has two fully different meanings.

The one in your dictionary refers to gently rocking a cradle (cradle ~ Wiege) and has as best kow citation Goethe's Erlkoening "Meine Toechter fuehren den naechtlichen Reign/ und wiegen und singen und tanzen Dich ein"

The other meaning is the one in your context and your assumption is correct "to weight out into something"
